News: Deň Gladiátora III (Day of Gladiators 3)

The Jungle BJJ team was invited to compete in another excellent No-Gi Grappling event in Slovakia, "Deň Gladiátora III" (Day of Gladiators III). This time, only a handful of Jungle BJJ guys could make it to Slovakia to compete: Martin, Joo Boy, and Andre (all Jungle BJJ Blue-belts). This was a 5 vs. 5 team competition - unfortuately, Jungle BJJ only came with 3 guys to compete. This meant that somebody had to fight 3 times, in different weight classes, and Andre stepped up to the challenge. Although outnumbered, Jungle BJJ ended up taking 2nd place in what was yet another excellent event from our Slovak friends, and Jungle BJJ competitors put on an excellent display of Jiu-Jitsu and sportsmanship, as usual. Congratulations to Joo Boy, Martin, and Andre!

News: IV Hungarian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open (2008)

Jungle BJJ team members were once again in action on November 15th, 2008, this time at the IV Hungarian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open (2008) in Budapest. The Jungle BJJ boys who competed: Martin, Big Boy, Jon, Robert, and Hedgehog. The competition was pretty stiff, but Jungle BJJ competitors managed to pull out some Ws:
1. Robert - 1st Place, +100kg; blue-belt class
2. Big Boy - 3rd Place, +100kg; blue-belt class
3. Jon - 2nd Place, Open Weight; white-belt class
Both Martin and Hedgehog competed as well, but unfortuately did not place this time. However, they learned some valuable lessons on what they need to work on in the future. :-) A few videos of the boys in action can be found in the video gallery.
Announcement: No-Gi Training in Prague

We would like to announce that starting October 15th, 2008, "No-Gi" trainings under Jungle BJJ instructor Fernando Araujo will take place every Wednesday in Prague. These trainings are *only* for existing Jungle BJJ (Gi) students. If you currently aren't a Jungle BJJ student, maybe now is a good time to become one. :P Everybody who wishes to participate in No-Gi trainings will be required to wear a Rash Guard.
